Doherty's newest body of work is visually a big departure from anything she's previously done. The work consists of primarily black and white images based on x-rays, with the exception of several color lenticular prints that are totally awesome! The whole series began with a visit to the USDA-ARS National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation, which is a national seed bank that protects our plant resources. It's one of those things you hope you'll never need, but with the direction the world is headed due to climate change, the commodification of genetic resources by agribusiness, and the everpresent possibility of someone bombing the hell out of us, we should probably be glad the place exists…
