Ben DeSoto: Understanding Poverty

Houston-based photojournalist Ben DeSoto opens the 2008-2009 DiverseWorks season with a multimedia exhibition that sheds light on the devastating impact of poverty in America. DeSoto’s 20-year investigation into life on the streets began with his 1988 encounter with two homeless Houstonians, Ben White and Judy Pruitt, while on assignment with the Houston Chronicle.
