Baba Ifalade and D.R.U.M. on the Rothko Chapel Plaza on Thursday, July 12, 7pm
D.R.U.M. is an award-winning African percussion ensemble led by Baba Ifalade (Alafia Gaidi), lead vocalist and performer, and practitioner of African traditional religion and culture. D.R.U.M. stands for Divine Rhythm, United Motion. The group has won the Houston Press’s “Best World Beat Band” on numerous occasions. Their hour-long, family-friendly performance of African and African-diaspora music will include singing and storytelling. A reception for the audience will follow the performance: refreshments are provided and Fat-Cat Creamery will be selling their ice cream treats. Bring the kiddos to this free outdoor, family-friendly event!
