The University of Houston seeks a dynamic individual to serve as Program Director of the newly created Center for Arts Leadership. The mission of the Center for Arts Leadership is to train, support, and empower creative
professionals. It is being founded on the premise that arts professionals need skilled managers in order for the arts themselves to be optimally supported.
Through programs in entrepreneurship and management for the visual, performing, literary, design, and interdisciplinary arts, the Center will provide creative thinkers with the necessary tools to succeed in the context of a rapidly
changing environment. The Director of the Center for Arts Leadership will report to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and will have primary responsibility for the development and administration of activities and programs designed to meet the objectives of the center. The Director will also prepare and monitor the annual budget; prepare and/or participate in the preparation of proposals to obtain grants from local, state, and federal agencies as well as private foundations and individual sponsors; and work with local and regional arts agencies and organizations to identify needs to be addressed through Center activities and programs as well as opportunities for collaborative actions.
The successful candidate will possess at least a masters degree in an arts field and have a minimum of five (5) yeas of leadership experience as an arts professional with responsible leadership duties.
