ArtHERE ROUND 2 OPEN CALLS
ZERO1 and the below listed Silicon Valley organizations are inviting proposals from local, national or international artists and artist teams for innovative site-specific projects at the intersection of art and technology to activate the center’s outdoor lawn (new and existing work can be submitted). Artists are challenged to respond to the Biennial thematic Seeking Silicon Valley and re-imagine the idea, the place, and the experience of Silicon Valley. The selected project will be exhibited at the Palo Alto Art Center from September 12-December 8, as part of the 2012 ZERO1 Biennial.
THE SPACES:
MACLA / Noche Electrica-Video work for projector Stipend: $750
Liquid Agency-Storefront design gallery Stipend: $2000
Maxxum / 300 S. 1st Street-Audio proposals Stipend: $300
Touchstone Climbing Studio-Ticket booth Stipend: $750
Palo Alto Arts Commission-Lawn Stipend: $500
Pacific Art League-Board Stipend: $500
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
Art+Tech: Whether existing or new work, the proposal needs to focus on the intersection of art & technology, and clearly respond to the Biennial thematic Seeking Silicon Valley.
Location: The proposals must be site-specific and respond clearly to the given site specs and parameters
Feasibility: We need to see that your project is feasible within the given time frame, budget, and site specs. Interactive: As the goal of this program is to activate under-used spaces in Silicon Valley, participatory projects that will engage the Biennial audience and regular foot traffic are preferred.
KEY DATES
Call deadline: July 29, 2012 (11pm PST)
Installation timeframe: Sept 8-11, 2012 (artist must be on site)
Exhibition: September 12-December 8, 2012
Deinstall: December 9-10, 2012
