We are happy to welcome several new teachers at Oil and Cotton. Anna Membrino, whose exciting show recently opened at Marty Walker Gallery, will teach a fabulous two-day painting workshop not to be missed. Rachel's kaleidoscope workshop will be thoughtful and beautiful - just like her! F is for Frank & LyndseyLoo will grace our Jewelry camp, and we will host Maggie Smith in collaboration with our neighbors at Wordspace for a fun Theater & Art Camp for our youngest thespians.

Retro Portrait Painting

Paint a series of simplified and stylish portraits of your relatives based on old family photographs. Create several drawings and small paintings of their selected photographs. Working from these studies each student will then paint one large portrait of a cherished family member from a past era.

Kaleidoscope
Make a Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope is derived from Ancient Greek, meaning "observer of beautiful forms". Invented in 1816 by Sir David Brewster, Kaleidoscopes are optical instruments that combine science and beauty to create brilliantly reflective patterns. While exploring various styles, learn to construct your own kaleidoscope from archival bookmaking materials and slide film.
