GALVESTON, Texas, June 15, 2012: Galveston Arts Center is pleased to announce the Fifth Annual Swashbucklers’ Soiree will be hosted at the Texas Seaport Museum on Saturday, July 21, 2012. This year’s pirate bash will include a silent auction, great food, ale for all, raffle drawing and entertainment to shiver yer timbers! Doors will open to the public at 6:00 pm and bidding on silent auction items will continue until 8:30 pm. Admission will be $20 each at the door, $15 for GAC members. Pirate attire is encouraged! The proceeds from this evening of nautical nonsense will benefit Galveston “Arrrrts” Center’s exhibitions and education programs.
Raffle tickets will be on sale at the event or may be purchased in advance at the Arts Center’s current location at the corner of 25th and Market Streets. Drawing for the raffle will take place at 9:00 pm. This year’s grand prize is 4 days and 3 nights for two adults at the Hyatt Key West Resort and Marina. This package also includes two, one-hour Swedish massages. Airfare is not included. A second drawing will be held for an eighteen inch freshwater cultured 10mm black pearl necklace, courtesy of Vic’s Estate and Fine Jewelry. Raffle tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50.
Galveston Restaurant Group will provide galley grub for hungry scallywags. Privateers can quench their thirst with Land Shark Lager courtesy Del Papa Distributing Company, or a sample of Railean Rum. Renown pirate balladeers, the Bilge Pumps, will provide salty entertainment courtesy of SpringHill Suites Hotel. Silent auction items will include art, merchandise and gift certificates from area artists and retailers.
Proceeds are tax deductible and benefit the Galveston Arts Center and all of its public programming―including free admission at all times to exhibitions of contemporary art, the presentation of art education outreach programs for underserved populations in our community, and the production of ArtWalk, one of Galveston’s favorite destination events.
