Cultural Affairs Coordinator II (EXHIBITIONS & PUBLIC ART) Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Arts Programming Division This position is responsible for coordinating the selection process, purchase, and maintenance of Chicago’s Public Art Collection of artwork in compliance with the Public Art Program, including the Chicago Percent for Art, CTA Arts in Transit Program, and special projects. In this capacity, the position will be responsible for the following: Coordinate presentations of panel recommendations to the Public Art Committee, advisory committees, and at educational community outreach events for fine art exhibitions and public art projects Maintain the city’s Public Art Collection databases, files, image libraries, and records of artists, artwork, and art projects Research appropriate candidates and make recommendations for consideration for art commissions and purchases Research current trends and professional best practice standards of fine art exhibitions, traveling exhibitions, public art training programs, and artist in residence programs Coordinate exhibitions, logistical arrangements, accommodations and itineraries for artists and guests Coordinate the efforts of artists, city departments, arts committees, other cities and governmental agencies and private companies involved with the administration and support of exhibitions, programs and events Manage program sites, ensuring the installation, set up, maintenance, and removal of artwork, equipment, materials, and supplies, and may assist in the installation and removal of artwork Coordinate the efforts of marketing and promotional campaigns publicizing programs, using social media, lectures, special events, and interviews Participate in fundraising activities to solicit monies for events, such as identify opportunities, establish partnerships, and write proposals Monitor project budgets, payrolls and expenditures, and the status of funds Provide status reports on project activities Provide technical assistance and serve as a liaison to artists and outside cultural and civic organizations Perform related duties as required
Requirements:
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Arts Administration or related degree supplemented by two years of program development experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
