Adult Shibori Dye Workshop
Chinati ArtLab
$15 Materials Fee
Shibori is a Japanese term for a resist fabric dyeing process (similar to tie-dye) featuring colorful, intricate patterns on silk fabric. Participants will explore techniques including hand stitching, twisting, and binding that create beautiful and sometimes surprising results. Fiber-reactive dyes will be used and students will learn the science behind color binding in textiles as they produce works of their own.
The class will be taught by Marfa artist and Chinati educator Grace Davis and will take place at the Chinati ArtLab. No previous experience is necessary and all skill levels are welcome, but class size is limited. Please register on-line by June 15 at http://chinati.org/programs/shibori-workshop or stop by the museum for a registration form.
