Marketing Manager
Southwest School of Art is seeking a Marketing Manager who will effectively contribute to the creation, execution and evaluation of brand initiatives designed to achieve business goals. Key areas of emphasis include: digital and social media management, paid and earned media generation, and creative design. In addition to 5+ years of professional experience in marketing or communications, the successful candidate will possess strong analytical and project management skills, a confident, dynamic personality and a positive, can-do attitude. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong abilities in campaign development, social media strategy/execution, problem solving, and experience in successfully managing multiple deadlines. Marketing Manager
Reports to: Director of Communications
Description: The Marketing Manager (MM) plays an integral role in positioning Southwest School of Art as a premier college of art. The MM participates in the development of marketing and media strategies to achieve business goals. The Marketing Manager is an active contributor to the creation, execution and evaluation of marketing and media outreach on behalf of Southwest School of Art.

As the need arises, the Marketing Manager will be required to work during evening and weekend hours in support of SSA programming and/or events.

Duties:
BRANDING
 Ensures that internal and external communications meet approved brand standards, including: graphic identity, voice and look and feel.

MARKETING
 Actively contributes to the development and ongoing evolution of marketing strategy to meet brand objectives
 Coordinates development of marketing campaigns
 Creates marketing analysis reports gauging effectiveness of marketing efforts
 Create a wide range of marketing materials, both printed and online content marketing
 Maintains photographic and video images that satisfy promotional and documentation needs of the brand and are in compliance with established photography standards. Includes:
o Direct capturing and editing of still and video images
o Scheduling and management of professional photographers
o Coordinating execution and logistics of photo shoots
 Manages marketing assets (still, video and graphic images) including uploading, cataloging and archiving.
 Provides basic graphic design services as needed and assists the Director of Communications in managing the work of outside graphic designers and printers, including assignment of projects, timeline development and project management.

PAID MEDIA
 Serves as the key contact for media vendors in the placement, implementation and
reconciliation of brand advertising, to include: broadcast, print, social and digital.
 Brainstorms fresh advertising strategies and makes recommendations to Director of
Communications
 Creates and/or coordinates the production of creative assets for contracted advertising and
handles submission to media outlets.

ORGANIC SOCIAL/DIGITAL MEDIA
 Actively contributes to the development, implementation and ongoing refinement of social
media strategies that drive audience acquisition, engagement and active participation by
internal constituents
 Creates and maintains an annual content calendar that complements the overall marketing
strategy
 Regularly develops and publishes content for each targeted social media platform
 Prepares a monthly analysis of organic social media performance against established
benchmarks and provides periodic recommendations for performance improvement
 In accordance with the approved digital marketing strategy, executes the following on an
ongoing basis:
o Updating of website content and images
o Promotional e-mail creation and deployment
o Monthly evaluation of metrics and recommendations for improvement
o Incremental digital outreach based on updates to the digital media strategy.

EARNED MEDIA
 Assists Director of Communications to develop story ideas and craft pitches to writers/editors
 Assists in writing press releases and conducting media follow-up to secure placement
 Monitors, analyzes and reports on earned media coverage on a monthly basis

ADMINISTRATION/DOCUMENTATION
 Prepares and submits invoices for contracted monthly services and subscriptions
 Develops and submits Southwest School of Art content for monthly Club Giraud newsletter
 Submits monthly calendar listings to City of San Antonio, CENTRO, Community Calendars, etc
 Compiles and submits exhibition documentation to the Development Department as requested
(gallery images and copies of media coverage)

MISC
 Assists Director of Communications and senior staff with special projects and events, including
creation of signage, invitations, etc.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Experience implementing successful marketing campaigns. Strong analytical and project management
skills – detail oriented. Graphic design/production and video production/editing needed. Demonstrated
abilities in social media strategy and execution. Strong communication and organizational skills and
experience managing multiple deadlines successfully. Functional skills in: Adobe (InDesign Illustrator,
Photoshop, Final Cut Pro) and Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel). Familiarity with HTML coding
is beneficial. Familiarity with the arts and/or non-profits a plus.

Preferred Attributes:
Ability to spontaneously create engaging and relevant organic content; has abundant and varied
community connections; is directly involved in the local/regional arts scene. Background in higher
education marketing preferred.
