Description: Society for the Performing Arts (SPA) seeks a highly organized, self-motivated team player to coordinate a large, season-long roster of education and community engagement programs in our Education and Community Engagement Department. The full-time Education Coordinator will report to the Director of Education and Community Engagement and must have excellent writing skills and organizational abilities. SPA seeks someone that is familiar with the structure of the Texas educational system and with Texas education standards (TEKS) and who has a strong background or interest in the
performing arts and/or education.

The responsibilities of this position include:
➢ Coordinate and oversee SPA school and community events such as professional development sessions, pre-performance activities, lectures, master classes, a student visual art contest, community events, student matinees, and residencies
➢ Coordinate with the Marketing Department to design and submit departmental posts on social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
➢ Maintain program reports, archival documents and grant application support documents (e.g., program surveys)
➢ Assist with departmental marketing, including design, mailings, and electronic marketing campaigns
➢ Update and manage the education department page on the SPA website
➢ Participate in the development, planning, and logistics of education programs with SPA Education staff
➢ Work as a liaison with teachers, schools, community partner-organizations and program participants
➢ Work with Director of Education and Community Engagement to design professional development for teachers
➢ Introduce artists and instructors at SPA performances and events
➢ Transport artists to and from workshops, master classes, lecture/demonstrations and other outreach events
➢ Manage reservations and process orders for all education and community engagement programs
➢ Draft correspondences, invoices, and department expense reports
➢ Coordinate SPA Education Committee meetings, volunteer, and intern programs

NOTES: Local residents preferred (no relocation)

Requirements: BA / BS degree with two or more years of relevant experience preferred • knowledge of the statewide and local educational structure • familiarity with the Texas education standards (TEKS) • ability to handle a high volume of email interactions • experience with scheduling and correspondence • ability to organize and prioritize with a sense of urgency in one’s work habits • demonstrated ability to work with senior staff and the public • superior written and verbal communications skills including grammatical accuracy • experience in grant writing a plus • proficiency with Microsoft Office programs • experience with photography, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and graphic design a plus • fluency in Spanish a plus • non-profit experience and familiarity with issues affecting the industry highly preferred • ability to lift and/or move at least 30 pounds • must have a valid driver’s license and regular access to reliable transportation • work regularly on some weekends and evenings throughout the season

Time Commitment: Hours: 40 hours per week / M-F 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. plus some evenings and weekends
