South Dallas Cultural Center and Urban Chatter invite female/women artists of color to submit work of any medium for this open call exhibition.
The intention of this exhibition is to show work that explores themes of identity, faith, religion, and the soul. Art should take into consideration how these themes connect to finding positivity and peace, and/or address inner tension and struggle as a woman of color. When addressing these themes, consider the repeated disrespect and unfair treatment of women. Think about the continuous micro-aggressions we endure and how they can alter our perceptions of ourselves and our importance in this world. With this psychologic warfare, it is important particularly for women to speak affirmations over our lives. We ask that you analyze and express these affirmations in your preferred medium.
