The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) is a legacy organization investing in the Latino heritage of this nation. For over 28 years, NALAC has built a strong foundation for the promotion of Latinx arts and culture and its advocacy efforts have advanced issues of cultural equity and raised the visibility and understanding of Latinx artistic and cultural expression. To this end, NALAC makes strategic investments to bolster leadership development, grow networks and partnerships and provide financial resources for those front-line artists and organizations involved in effecting change through arts and culture.

Advancement Associate
We are recruiting an Advancement Associate to serve as a key cultivator and solicitor of donors. The Advancement Associate supports the individual donor and corporate fundraising and events program of this growing organization. The Associate will be responsible for conducting research to identify likely new donors, maintaining and improving the donor information and reports in the NALAC database, and assisting in organizing fundraising events from house parties to field trips to an annual major event. The Advancement Associate will provide a disciplined, proactive approach to raising money from existing and new pools of individual and corporate donors. Reports to and provides support for the Chief Advancement Officer related to all aspects of NALAC’s individual/corporate/event-based fundraising program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
o Major donors/corporate fundraising
o Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate & foundation sponsors, and individual donors
o Lead all aspects of individual gift solicitations including efforts to identify,
o qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors.
o Conduct web-based research on individual donor prospects and prepare a summary
o report on each prospect.
o Assist in scheduling donor and prospect meetings; work with staff for scheduling for the President and CEO and the Board of the Directors.
o Develop and maintain a system to schedule/calendar for tracking all contacts, relationships and involvement of fundraising staff and volunteers.
o Support the planning, execution and implementation of individual donor cultivation
o events.
o Serve as a vital member of the leadership team
o Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information
o Coordinate all correspondence, mail appeals, and other communications with individual
o donors and prospects
o Coordinate in-kind donations and make decisions regarding the issuing of receipts
o Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization
o Keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to the job.
o Maintain discretion and confidentiality in accordance with NALAC policies
o Produce accurate and timely reports and queries with great attention to detail.
o Communicate directly with the public; this includes representing the organization to public, government, and other external sources; receiving guests at the office, exchanging information in person, in writing, by telephone or e-mail.
o Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
o Be accountable for project plans, timelines, project tracking and due dates on assigned projects.
o Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, skills and abilities
o Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required with at least 5 years of development experience
o A proven track record of cultivating donors
o A proven track record as a grant writer
o A proven track record as a major gift fundraiser
o Excellent oral and written communications skills
o Demonstrated personal solicitation success
o Valid US driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, databases, social media, mapping software, and other technology
o Demonstrated ability to interact well with individuals and communities from a diverse range of cultures, incomes, and other demographic characteristics
o Professional demeanor and attitude and strong interpersonal skills
o Self-motivated problem-solving abilities, with a strong attention to detail
o Must work well individually and as part of a team
o Reliability, punctuality, and ability to meet deadlines
o Absolute discretion and confidentiality
o A participative work style and the ability to receive feedback
o Computer skills, including email and virtual conference applications, Microsoft Office suite and other online documents, such as Google Docs
o Ability to learn new tools, techniques, applications, systems and processes as needed
o Web research fluency and the ability to learn and manage various information system technologies

Compensation
The Advancement Associate is a salaried, full time, exempt position and is expected to provide 40 hours per week operating during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Busy times may entail additional evening and weekend work or shifting of the standard schedule and location. Compensation will be determined based on experience.

Job Location and Travel
The position is based in San Antonio and requires the Advancement Associate to travel to the NALAC National Office, located at 1208 Buena Vista Street. Some out of state and national travel may be required.
