Artists and representatives of arts nonprofits will be given time to have a short consultation with a legal or accounting professional at the Spacetaker Artist Resource Center. Preference is given to those who make appointments, but walk-ups are also welcome. Please contact info@spacetaker.org in order to make an appointment. TALA volunteers interested in providing consultations should contact info@talarts.org.

"Individual Income Tax Seminar for Artists" presented by Michele Stanton, hosted at Rice Media Center, Saturday, February 18, 2012
Structured with artists in mind, this seminar will literally walk you through a tax return, addressing common concerns artists may have about hobby loss, and other IRS regulations pertaining to creative practice, helping you prepare your own tax return. Michele Stanton, CPA, is a long-time TALA volunteer and now a TALA Board Member who specializes in the needs of individual artists. This seminar is free and open to TALA members and non-members, however advanced registration is required. Please RSVP to info@talarts.org before Thursday, February 16.
This seminar will be hosted at Rice Media Center on the campus of Rice University. Parking will be available in the West Lot 5 Lot across the street from the Media Center, between the Campus Police Offices and Rice Stadium. A credit card is required to enter the parking lot.

Join CPA and TALA Board Member Robert “Rex” Schuller as he speaks the language chill, leading a discussion designed to minimize the complexity of filing your individual tax return, raising the entire process to an art form. Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts (TALA) was formed in 1979 to help meet the legal and accounting needs of artists and arts nonprofits across the State of Texas. TALA volunteers throughout the state handle more than 350 matters per year. This amounts to more than six hundred thousand dollars annually in donated services to the arts and cultural community.
