PERFORMANCE ART INTERNSHIP
Continuum is looking for an intern for the spring semester. Continuum is a small group of some of Houston’s interesting and cutting edge performance artists. They have joined together with a desire to create an encouraging and safe atmosphere for each other as well as the community to explore and express themselves through the medium of performance through workshops, collaboration, dialogue and sharing their work.
Our intern’s responsibilities will possibly include- attending and keeping notes for meetings, assisting with set up/break down of events, upkeep of Continuum’s online presence through blogging and other social media, help with documentation, assisting artists during public performances. Assistance with the upcoming show in February at the Orange Show. This is an excellent opportunity for photographers or videographers in search of practice and exposure. We will work with you on your particular interests and skills.
Time Requirements-2-8 hours a week, depending on what’s happening, very flexible. Internship will last from January until May.We will definitely need your help on February 11th and the days preceding it.
Qualities we would like in an intern- brave, adventurous, enthusiastic, a strong interest in performance art, internet savvy, not-easily-offended, a positive thinker, encouraging, a desire to learn, a desire to help, a desire to learn from other artists, open minded. Dependable: Please be able to show up on time, when you say you will.
This is not a paid internship. You will receive mentorship and love from some very active Houston artists. You will receive encouragement and feedback for any of your own art. You will receive hands on experience that will teach you to make your own art happen. You will meet a lot of artists and widen your network. You will receive lots of THANK YOUS! We are happy to provide letters of recommendation or be your references in the future, and would be open to working with your school to get you extra credit. You will receive a unique educational and personal growth opportunity. We are providing this opportunity, because it is the kind we would have loved to have when we first became interested in the medium!

If you are looking for a mind-blowing and maybe a little hallucinatory experience Continuum is the place to be. When I first started the internship I honestly didn\'t know what to expect, but they are good people who made me feel welcomed. Not only is their work exquisitely brain draining but it is art. As an intern my photographic skills enhanced because there is always a good shot to take (they are a very photogenic group). They are always encouraging people and will always tell you thank you for your work. ALWAYS. I\'ve learned how to set up a live-streaming account to reach online viewers. Their work is very contagious and if you feel the need to perform they are very accepting of it. Best internship I\'ve ever been a part of with the very best people! I think everyone needs to experience Continuum in their life.
