LAST CALL! Crooked American Boarders
Caricatures of American stereotypes for all things “Mexican” exit a mythical train into a border town. Studying notions of primitivism, Menchaca appropriates these qualities as being idiosyncratic of Mexican immigrants in the US. The installation challenges the social subordination of illegal immigrants in the US and the misguided patriotism that encourages it.
