Glitter Critters with Exhibiting Artist Maricela Sanchez


CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas- Born in Laredo, Texas and raised in Highland Park, Illinois, Maricela Sanchez is a multi-media artist with a fresh take on art and life. Her work centers on organic, ambiguous forms built of various mediums and applied colors. Fascinations, Sanchez’ new work, is indicative of her childhood visual and cerebral stimulations and memoirs, where daydreaming was an everyday part of her life. Maricela will be sharing her Facinations on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:30pm, and you can join her in making a Glitter Critter of your very own! This workshop is intended for youth of all ages. The cost is $30 and all materials will be provided. Come learn about the art of Maricela Sanchez, make a Glitter Critter and discover your own Facinations!

Education is at the heart of the Art Center’s mission and an integral component in all its activities. Programming provides art classes for children, youth, families, adults, senior citizens, and groups with special needs. Activities include fine art camps, artist workshops and field trip activities for local schools. By participating in the wide range of educational opportunities at the Art Center, community members gain a better understanding of each other and the place in which we live, as they experience the many benefits of an education in the arts.


About The Art Center of Corpus Christi, promoting arts and culture in the Costal Bend for 40 years: The Art Center of Corpus Christi (www.artcentercc.org, 361-884-6406) was founded as a community art center and 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in 1972. “The Center” provides an environment for creative expression with educational programs and exhibition of the arts. Its facilities include ten art organizations, five gallery spaces, and special events. The Art Center has free admission and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 10AM to 4PM.
