Come and reign in your creative potential with this hands-on course. Become familiar with professional terms while also learning basic composition, color theory, lighting and white balance. Become a master of the DSLR as you learn the various menu functions. You'll also engage in out-of-class field work, where you can show off what you've learned. The Seeing, Not the Taking
It's one thing to capture a photo. But to funnel your artistic vision-the accumulation of your inner-thoughts, emotions and knowledge-into a unique photographic moment is a whole new ballgame. This is where this course steps in. Through creative use of camera controls, you'll learn "why" (instead of "how") to taking a photo. Composition II: Finding Your Vision
After taking this course, you'll be able to choose the most effective background for your subject and frame your final image for maximum visual impact. A group critique of class assignments will refine your ability to recognize an image that successfully uses the basics of visual composition. History of Photography
Get inspired and learn about the photographers that made photography an artform! In this course, students will learn about photography's role throughout the 19th century and improve their ability to talk about photographs by looking at and discussing well known photographers and photographs from the past. A brief technical history of photography as well as information about historic camera types will also be covered. Using lecture, hands on tutorials and class activities students will gain an understanding of antiquated photographic process as well as their impact on current photographic technology. Class meets two Tuesdays: September 16th & 23rd, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

High Dynamic Range Photography
Learn how to get the most out of your highlights and shadows by using the high dynamic range technique. Starting from exposure bracketing at capturing to enhancing and manipulation at post production in Photoshops, students will learn how to use HDR technique to achieve a wide range of aesthetics from scene in difficult lighting situations as well as normal lighting situations. Basic Photoshop skills required. Class meets four Mondays: September 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The Art of Self-Portraiture
Want to get ahead in the portraiture game? In this workshop, you'll learn the techniques and concepts involved in creating a body of work revolving around self-portraiture. The instructor will discuss what makes a successful self-portrait both singularly and as a series. You get a chance to develop series of self-portrait images utilizing different shooting styles. Class meets four Fridays: September 5th, 12th, 19th, & 26th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
