SPACES STILL AVAILABLE FOR OUR NEXT WORKSHOP
DEEP AND DARK:
A MEZZOTINT WORKSHOP WITH ARTIST JEFFREY DELL
BURNING BONES PRESS
OPEN TO ALL LEVELS (Some printmaking experience preferred)
Mezzotint is a direct method of creating an intaglio print from a copper plate. No acids, grounds or additional chemistry is used. It is often thought of as a slow process, but in its directness it can also be quite fast (no time spent waiting for something to dry!).
This class will cover both traditional approaches to mezzotint and more intuitive uses of the mezzotint rocker as a tool for direct drawing.
While some experience with other intaglio or printmaking techniques will be helpful, this workshop is open to all levels.
Jeffrey Dell is an artist in San Marcos, Texas and teaches at Texas State University. He has exhibited his prints at Art Palace Gallery in Houston, Galleri Urbane in Dallas, at the International Print Center New York, abroad in Italy and Germany, and across the U.S.
