Two Austin projects have been awarded grants totaling over $650,000 from ArtPlace America, a consortium of foundations, federal agencies, and banks, dedicated to strengthening the field of creative placemaking. The Cultural Arts Division of the City's Economic Development Department is a partner on both projects.

Grant funding received: $256,500
Description: Bringing together ten artists, one per Council district, with district residents to work together, this project will identify each communities' cultural assets and create artistic expressions of the districts' character and diversity. Partners include GO Collaborative, Fisterra Studio, Public City, and Austin Creative Alliance.
Project: thinkEAST Living Charrette
Grant funding received: $400,000
Description: During Fusebox Festival 2015, project partners will create a pop-up mixed-use creative community on the thinkEAST site, a 24-acre former industrial site in East Austin. Partners include Fusebox, thinkEAST developers and Bullseye Business Development.
