Healthy Cooking Demos
July – August 2014
The City of El Paso Museums & Cultural Affairs Department and La Semilla Food Center have teamed up with local chefs and restaurants to host free healthy cooking demos at the Downtown Art & Farmer’s Market each Saturday at 10:30am, 11:00am and 11:30am beginning July 12th. The cooking demos will include fresh, seasonal produce available exclusively through local growers participating in the Farmer’s Market. The cooking demos aim to promote healthy eating habits & accessibility within El Paso households, as well as promote sustainability through the use of our local resources. The schedule is as follows:
July 12th: Traditional Oaxacan red & green pipian sauces - Chef Eduardo Bouche of Creative Kids
July 19th: Healthy cooking with the Green Ingredient Restaurant
July 26th: Cooking fresh & local with Chef Keely of Italians Restaurant
August 2nd: Eat Right, Feel Great with Chef Leann of El Paso’s Ripe Eatery.
Demonstrations made possible with support from the Texas Commission on the Arts.The market operates every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes vendors of various mediums of art & hand crafted items, seasonal fresh produce from local growers as well as local food trucks.
