Accountant (part-time, 20 hours/week)
Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum
San Antonio, TX

Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum, San Antonio’s first and longest-running venue for contemporary art, seeks a part-time Accountant to oversee fiscal management of the museum’s budget, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate bookkeeping of Blue Star’s operations and programs, including more than 20 onsite and satellite exhibitions, fundraising events, education efforts, and the MOSAIC after-school youth development program.

The ideal candidate is highly organized and has familiarity with the fiscal operations of a non-profit. The Accountant reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with the Development Manager to ensure the accurate accounting and reporting of Blue Star’s finances.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manages accounts payable and receivable and ensures proper record keeping in Quickbooks 2014.
• Owns process for budgeting, forecasting, revenues and planning.
• Provides financial reports for prospective grantors.
• Serves as a liaison with contracted accounting firm for annual filing of organization’s 990 and biannual audit.
• Reports to the Executive Director and Board Treasurer.
• Upholds accounting best practices for accurate bookkeeping and tracking of Blue Star’s financial position.
Specific Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
• Must have 2-4 years of bookkeeping experience
• Proven abilities in fund/grant accounting
• Thorough understanding of Quickbooks Pro for Non-profit, Microsoft Excel, and current ecommerce applications including Paypal. Knowledge of eTapestry a plus
• Exceptional interpersonal and reporting skills with a pro-active mindset
• Demonstrated passion for contemporary art a plus
