Join Fresh Arts and our esteemed guest panel at DiverseWorks Artspace for a candid discussion about what goes on behind the curtains at some of Houston's most well known publications, how they choose what to cover, as well as a refresher on best practices when writing for any media outlet.

Many of those in charge of external communications for smaller organizations (or individuals), have little or no formal training in writing for the media. That's OK. This one-part conversation, one-part workshop, will help provide greater understanding of how it works for the writers and how to write a more compelling press release, so you can be better equipped to effectively engage the local media.

We will cover: what it's like to work as an arts writer in Houston, the basics of strong press releases, common mistakes, pitching stories, requesting corrections, general advice, and resources.
