Extremely Young Film Festival Deadline Extended to Feburary 1
Aurora Picture Show extends the submission deadline for the First Annual Extremely Young Film Festival hosted in partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston to February 1st. Made possible thanks to the support of Reliant, an NRG Company, this inaugural film festival will showcase the innovative talents of youth and teen filmmakers from around the world. Aurora is currently accepting submissions for short film entries with age categories for both Teen and Youth. All types of short films, including stop motion, live action and documentaries will be considered.
Born out of the spirit of Aurora Picture Show's Extremely Shorts Film Festival, which features film and video under three minutes long, Extremely Young Film Festival puts the spotlight on films under three minutes long from makers under 17 years old. Celebrating their artistic, creative and technical strengths and interpretations on the world in which they live, these voices are the future of media expression.
Aurora is also pleased to welcome back Chris Strompolos as the juror of the festival. Strompolos produced and acted in Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation. Originally screened at Aurora Picture Show in 2008, Eric Zala, Jayson Lamb and Chris Strompolos were just twelve years old when they set out to make their own shot-by-shot re-creation of "Raiders of the Lost Ark." They finished at age nineteen. By saving up their allowances, hijacking younger siblings, and setting Eric's basement on fire, they used astonishing ingenuity to make a film that is surprisingly entertaining, even stunning. MFAH Films will screen the film in tandem with the film festival.
While Extremely Young Film Festival will be held in Houston, youth filmmakers ages 7-17 from anywhere in the world are eligible to submit films for consideration. There will be special awards given for Audience Choice and Juror's Choice in each category.
The submission guidelines are as follows:
Content should be suitable for viewing by all ages
Films and videos can be any genre
Films can be up to 3 minutes in length (including titles)
Principle members of the production must be 17 years old or less at the time the film was completed.
Selected films must provide a high resolution screening copy for the presentation of the festival.
There will be two age categories (your age at the time of the film's completion): TEEN (13 to 17) and YOUTH (12 and under)
We will have Audience Choice Awards and a Juror's Choice Award
The festival will take place on March 1, 2014 at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston
Submission deadline is February 1st, 2014
Submissions are FREE. Filmmakers can submit up to 3 entries (must be done separately)
We only accept online submissions. We will not accept DVDs. On the submission page you will input a link to your video on www.vimeo.com
