Call For Entries: It's My Right: an exhibition honoring the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act
2014 marks the 50th Anniversary of one of the most important civil rights legislation passed in America, the 1964 Civil Rights Act. With today's controversy over voter suppression, the curtailment of women's rights, immigration reform and redistricting, it seems appropriate that we take a look at how far we've come and how much further we have to go in the fight for equal rights for disenfranchised groups. Artists can submit work that addresses any aspect of the issues surrounding equal rights. All work must be 2-dimensional and come ready to hang. This is an equal opportunity exhibition so if you have something to say visually about this issue, be a part of "It's My Right"! All work must be delivered to the Arthello Beck Gallery in South Dallas Cultural Center by no later than Saturday, February 1 at 4 pm. Call 214/670-0315 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for an entry form. There is no entry fee.
The exhibition dates: February 8 - March 1, 2014. Opening reception is Saturday, February 8 at 5 pm.
