College Houses is a nonprofit student housing cooperative in Austin, Texas, owned and managed by its student residents. Formed in 1964, College Houses’ mission is to provide affordable student housing and a unique living atmosphere that fosters lifelong friendships. Located in the West Campus neighborhood near the University of Texas, College Houses’ seven cooperatives are home to over 500 members. College Houses is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as General Administrator.
The General Administrator (GA) is the chief executive officer and registered agent of College Houses. The GA reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the operational, legal, and financial affairs of College Houses, providing leadership, oversight, and planning to all functional areas of the organization.
Act as servant-leader with a passion to guide and inspire the general membership, the Board of Directors, and staff to success
Promote cooperative values and principles
Implement plans and initiatives that support the goals and objectives of the Board, committees, and general membership of College Houses to ensure high quality, effective operations and programs
Build, guide, and develop staff talent by encouraging creativity and fostering a nurturing work environment
Serve as the spokesperson and advocate for College Houses to the community and outside organizations
Ensure the financial health and long-term stability of College Houses
Utilize sound property management principles to maintain the value and integrity of College Houses’ properties
Coordinate and monitor conflict management, problem solving, and resolution processes
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as College Houses’ bylaws and policies
Strong Commitment to College Houses’ mission
Bachelor’s degree in related field, Master’s degree preferred
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work evenings and flexible hours as required
Demonstrated ability to work for and with students in a cooperative environment
Grant writing ability preferred
