Artist in Residence Proposals, Hcc, Southeast
HOUSTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE SOUTHEAST AIR PROJECT SPRING 2014
APPLICATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 30, 2013
Houston Community College, Southeast, seeks project proposals from visual and performing artists interested in participating in the artist-in-residence project, AIR.
The motivating force behind the HCC, Southeast, AIR Project is to make undergraduate education more relevant to our students. We believe that a community college is about improving society and ourselves. Art is essential to this equation; art confronts us, teaches us to question, and strengthens our creative problem-solving ability. We want our students to view art as a tool to augment their knowledge and participation in their communities.
PREFERRED PROJECT PROPOSAL
-Collaboration between the artist and the faculty, students, staff or departments at Southeast.
-Challenge educational structures, their histories, politics, and pedagogies.
-Consider the community college experience, place and audience.
-Utilize an original website or social media platform to engage an audience and promote the project.
Coordinating with the AIR project advisor, the artist will be present on campus, 4-6 hours per week to establish project development. Additionally, artists are expected to:
-Develop an audience
-Seek out campus resources
-Communicate project timeline
-Follow through with college PR
