Dallas Landmark Sculpture Competition using Toys
DALLAS CITYSCAPE is conducting a competition for commissioned sculptures made from toys and toy-themed materials of three notable landmarks located in Dallas, Texas.
DALLAS CITYSCAPE is a toy-themed exhibition fund-raiser for East Dallas Community Schools. For over thirty years EDCS has been proving that all children, regardless of race or income, can succeed in school when we start young and involve parents.
Landmark Sculpture Categories
1.Reunion Tower – 300 Reunion Blvd E Dallas, TX 75207
2.Texas Star Ferris Wheel – Fair Park, 3921 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd Dallas, Texas 75210
3.Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts –2501 Flora Street, Dallas, TX 75201

The winner in each category will receive a cash prize of $1,000.00 upon completion of the sculpture.
The winner will receive up to $500.00 to cover the cost of materials used in the construction of the sculpture.
The winner will receive recognition in press releases and publicity.
The sculpture will become part of the permanent collection of DALLAS CITYSCAPE and the winner will release all rights to the sculpture.
An individual may enter in one, two, or three categories.
Entrants must submit a completed entry form by May 31st, 2013.
In addition to an entry form, a rendering of the applicant’s sculpture and copy of their portfolio must be submitted to 13350 Dallas Parkway, Suite 1610, Dallas, TX 75240 by 9:00 p.m., June 14th, 2013. Entries submitted after that time will not be accepted.
Should this competition be prohibited by law in any jurisdiction in the world, then the competition shall not be open in such jurisdiction.
Staff members of Neighbors United for Quality Education and Toyscapes, Inc. are not eligible.
Any individual under the age of 18 years old must have parents/guardians consent.
Proof of age and identity may be required.
Acceptable rendering forms for entry include Drawings or 3-D Models of the final sculpture, a List of Materials to be used in the construction, and a Portfolio of past work.
Toys and toy-themed material must be used in the creation of the sculpture.
Finished sculptures must be structurally sound, with no perishable items used in construction.
Must be an original sculpture created by the entrant/entrants.
Model made to scale: 1” equals 6’.
Final sculptures will be displayed on bases of 30” x 30” configurations.
Sculptures must be completed and delivered to DALLAS CITYSCAPE by November 1st, 2013.
Renderings submitted will be judged by a jury and by popular vote. The jury decision will account for 75% and the popular vote will account for 25% of the total ranking.
The jury will use the following criteria:
1. Interpretation and clarity of the original structure to the viewer.
2. Creative and original use of toys and toy-themed materials.
3. Structurally sound to withstand reuse and transportation.
