Color comes alive at the Dishman with Gehring’s ‘Brilliant Corners’ April 5
The Dishman Art Museum at Lamar University will host Brilliant Corners, an exhibition of abstract art by New York painter Matthew Neil Gehring April 2 to May 2. Taking inspiration from a combination of the high-modernism movement in the visual arts and the dissonant harmonies of jazz musician Thelonious Monk, Gehring’s paintings combine minimalist austerity with expressionist color and technique.
Gehring will visit the Dishman Art Museum for an artist’s talk on April 5 as part of the opening reception celebration for the show.
Gehring’s talk will begin at 6 p.m. in the Dishman Art Museum Auditorium. Light refreshments will be served at the reception that follows. Admission to the talk, reception and the exhibition is free. The Dishman Art Museum is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and is located at 1030 E. Lavaca, Beaumont, Texas. Free museum-dedicated parking is available in front of the Dishman during museum hours. Call (409) 880-8959 for more information.
