AMOA-Arthouse Announces the Fourteenth Annual Five x Seven Art Sale

AMOA-Arthouse Announces the
Fourteenth Annual Five x Seven Art Sale,
Benefiting the Museum's Exhibitions and Education Programs

AUSTIN, TX--March 7, 2013--This April, AMOA-Arthouse presents its fourteenth annual Five x Seven fundraiser at the Jones Center in downtown Austin. The museum will host the popular art sale on two nights: Five x Seven SPLURGE (Thursday, April 4), a "first dibs" preview with a VIP feel; and Five x Seven SOCIAL (Friday, April 5), the casual, artist-friendly follow-up party.

Roughly 1,000 original, 5 x 7-inch artworks donated by more than 500 artists may be purchased for $150 each ($100 for AMOA-Arthouse members). With all proceeds directly supporting museum exhibitions and public programs,
Five x Seven is not only a wonderful way to give back to Austin's creative community, but also a unique chance to acquire work by emerging and established artists at an affordable price. All pieces are displayed anonymously--with the creators' names only known to buyers post-purchase-- to encourage guests to make surprising new discoveries and build their art collection on instinct alone.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be participating in my first Five x Seven experience," said Louis Grachos, executive director of AMOA-Arthouse. "The fact that this event is going strong in its fourteenth year drives home the fact that we remain committed to recognizing, celebrating, and exhibiting works by both established and emerging artists from across Texas, all while raising much-needed funds for the organization."

The museum is honored to celebrate the diverse talent of artists who are local, regional, or who have strong Texas ties. Artists who have submitted
Five x Sevens this year include Miguel A. Aragón, Shawn Camp, Lauren Fensterstock, Robert Jackson Harrington, Beili Liu, Michael Menchaca, Kelly O'Connor, and Jeff Williams. A full list of participating artists can be found at amoa-arthouse.org/fivexseven.

Kicking off the festivities at 7pm on Thursday, April 4, Five x Seven SPLURGE treats partygoers to first choice of the available works of art. When the whistle blows at 8:30pm, signaling the start of the sale, the mad dash begins. Beyond priority selection, SPLURGE offers patrons an exclusive experience: mixing and mingling with Austin's movers and shakers while sipping and savoring specialty cocktails, mouthwatering hors d'oeuvres, and decadent desserts courtesy of Bissinger's, Driskill Bar & Grill, Independence Brewing Co., Karma, Pedernales Cellars, Ranch 616, Tito's Handmade Vodka, and TRACE. SPLURGE tickets are $150 each.

On night two--beginning at 7:30pm on Friday, April 5--SOCIAL welcomes Austinites to rub elbows with the artists whose creativity and generosity make Five x Seven possible. At $45 a ticket, guests are invited to lounge on the Jones Center Rooftop Deck and admire the downtown skyline while enjoying live music by The Whiskey Shivers. In addition to the libations of returning sponsors Bissinger's and Tito's Handmade Vodka, complimentary light bites and beverages will be provided by Crave Catering, Frank, Hops & Grain, and
J. Black's Feel Good Kitchen & Lounge.

Throughout both nights, social media-savvy attendees will have the chance to win a free 5 x 7-inch artwork through the museum's first-ever Five x Seven live tweet. Guests are encouraged to snap photos and share their experience on Twitter by using the hash tags #5x7splurge and #5x7social and referencing @AMOA_Arthouse. After the parties wrap, a few lucky winners (chosen by lottery) will be invited back to the Jones Center to select the complimentary Five x Seven of their choice.

Five x Seven will remain on view in the Second Floor Gallery of the Jones Center through Sunday, April 7.

ABOUT AMOA-ARTHOUSE
AMOA-Arthouse provides rich environments for a wide range of audiences to investigate and experience excellence in contemporary art. The museum accomplishes this through innovative programs and direct access to the creative process. Laguna Gloria, the museum's ancestral home, which includes the restored, 1916 Italianate-style Driscoll Villa has been declared a national treasure and is listed on City of Austin, State of Texas, and national registries of historic places. The twelve-acre site perfectly complements the museum's award-winning and architecturally-significant downtown space, the Jones Center. A renowned example of adaptive reuse, the recently renovated facility, designed by architects Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis, was once an early-1900s movie palace, and later a department store before becoming the museum's downtown site.
