Clamp Light Artist Studios and Gallery: Resident Artist Exhibition
During Contemporary Art Month, we are pleased to feature an exhibition of new works from Clamp Light Resident artists Mark Crutsinger, Wesley Harvey, Sarah T. Roberts, and new member, Erin Hernsberger. This event will take place Friday March, 8th from 6-9 pm at Clamp Light Gallery located on 706 Fredericksburg Rd.
Harvey manipulates porcelain to examine sexuality through "the use of cute and kitsch figurines and animals as symbols and metaphors for the human condition." Hernsberger works primarily in photography to contemplate the body, "as a space of interior and exterior boundaries, as a source of abject material and repulsive experience, as a fundamental actor in the formation of identity, and as a site of danger and pleasure." Focused in ceramics, Crutsinger seeks to, "create an awareness in the viewer of time and of age, that each piece is somehow a relic or an archeological find, no longer new and whole yet possessing a sense of beauty as a result of imperfection." Roberts' artwork utilizes fabric and metal to investigate an early experience of loss, its subsequent effects on her identity and the pleasurable, habitual behavior to control objects.
