Dallas Mavericks/South Dallas Cultural Center Black History Month Challenge

Mavs Black History Month Challenge

In celebration of Black History Month, the Dallas Mavericks and the South Dallas Cultural Center will provide DFW Metroplex middle and high school students the opportunity to compete in the 5th Annual Black History Month Challenge.

Students must attend a high school or middle school within 75-miles of American Airlines Center and complete an artistic project answering the question: What does equality mean to you? Submissions should be in the form of a visual arts piece (drawings, paintings, photography, crafts, ceramics, etc.).

The Black History Month Challenge winners will receive Mavs prizes and be recognized during halftime of the Mavs vs. Brooklyn Nets game on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Winning projects will be displayed in the Augusta Savage Youth Gallery at the South Dallas Cultural Center from April 6- April 30. Three winners will be selected.

Projects must be completed by an individual student, and no class or team projects will be considered.

Applications are due into the Mavs offices by Thursday, February 28, 2013.
