CALL FOR ARTISTS: Downtown Storefronts - San Antonio
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Tuesday, October 16 at 5 pm
ABOUT:
Public Art San Antonio (PASA), is working with local artist Cruz Ortiz to recruit other local artists and designers to create installations for "Cut and Paste," a downtown storefront exhibition organized by the City of San Antonio's Department for Culture and Creative Development (formerly the Office of Cultural Affairs). Interested artists are asked to explore the technical and creative possibilities of cutting and pasting using materials such as plastics, fabric, and wheat pasted graphics. Proposed artwork plans may be for installation in storefront windows or affixed to exterior walls, columns, or other approved building components. Applicants are asked to submit only a rendering and description of the proposed artwork and not an actual mock-up. Applications will only be accepted online.

MORE:
The downtown storefronts initiative began with District 1 City Councilman Diego Bernal's desire to create a downtown environment rich in cultural opportunities for locals and visitors alike and is intended to invigorate downtown San Antonio by prompting dialogue and activating underutilized and/or vacant properties with creative and dynamic temporary installations and artistic happenings.
