City of Austin invites filmmakers to submit shorts to the Faces of Austin competition
Annual program looking for films inspired by Austin life
AUSTIN— The City of Austin invites Austin-area filmmakers to submit their work to Faces of Austin 2013. Submitted films must be under 10 minutes in length and filmed in Austin or highlight an Austin topic or organization. Both fiction and nonfiction works are acceptable. The deadline for submission is January 15, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.
The films selected for Faces of Austin 2013 will have a premiere screening during the SXSW Film Conference Community Screenings in March 2013. They will also be shown at Austin City Hall, on Channel 6, the City website, and at special screenings throughout the year.
Examples of past Faces of Austin selections include documentaries about local historical figures, nonprofit organizations, and neighborhoods; narratives set in and around Austin; music videos featuring local bands; and video collages of city life. Since 2005, Faces of Austin has showcased short films by local filmmakers, reflecting the diverse faces, voices, and experiences of our city. Faces of Austin is a program of the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Growth and Redevelopment Services Office, in partnership with Channel 6.
