Houston artist David Adickes, renowned for mega-kitsch roadside statuary, has purchased and refurbished his old high school in Huntsville into an 80,000 sf showcase for a lifetime of paintings and sculptures. Says Adickes, who will  be on site three days per week in a small studio, “If not now, when?”

What a great asset for Huntsville to have David Adickes return to his roots and gift the city with a showcase museum of his lifetime of paintings and sculptures. I very much appreciate that he is ‘recycling’ an unused building in the community and bringing life back to Huntsville’s old high school. Thank you, David Adickes, and all those members working with the Adickes Foundation.

Just wanted to let you know that at the old Huntsville High School, that one of the face sculptures out in front of the building has been blown over.

This is a great idea.
The school is sentimental to me as my mother, Marjorie
Young and my uncle, Nolan Young graduated from this
school.

I am interested of shooting some pics of the inside of the old building. Since it is being refurbished, will there be tours to the public?
