Fairmont Dallas Thinks Art Fills Beds: Ginger Geyer Named 4th Artist in Residence

by Bill Davenport October 12, 2011

Austin ceramist Ginger Geyer is the next artist in resdience at the The Fairmont Dallas hotel.  Geyer will be living and working on-site at the hotel through December 31, 2011. She will contribute a piece to The Fairmont Dallas’ permanent collection at the conclusion of her residency, and be featured in a show at the Ross-Akard Gallery in the hotel’s lobby in December.

The residency is part of an ongoing attempt by the Fairmont to make real art fill beds: announcement of Geyer’s residency came with  a pitch for  the Fairmont’s “Art Immersion Weekend” package: “Those with a true passion for art are invited to take part in The Fairmont Dallas’ Art Immersion Package, which includes one-on-one lessons in “The Art of Making Art” with the Artist in Residence, “The Art of Buying Art” with Ross Akard Gallery owner Bryan Embry and an “Art of Culinary & Art of Wine” dinner. Rates for the Art Immersion Package start at $399 USD.”

Nicole Considine, Director of Sales & Marketing of The Fairmont Dallas had a marketing director’s gush: “We are very excited to have Ms. Geyer as our new Artist in Residence,” she said, “her unique pieces each tell a wonderful story, and we cannot wait to share her artistic vision with our guests.”

Ginger,

I hope you had a good visit with Steven and Amy. I would love to introduce you to a young artist, Madison Rhea in Dallas and more importantly just catch up. Can you talk by phone anytime soon?
