Venues located out of city center had a difficult time attracting voters. ArtPrize supported some opportunities for publicity, but did little by way of logistical support. Shuttles, for instance, took viewers around venues in the city center, where everything was within walking distance, but not to peripheral venues. Hidden in Plain Site, a painting by Fort Worth artist Sedrick Huckaby (in foreground), was outside the ArtPrize loop in an indoor volleyball facility that could accommodate its 18-foot height. Fortunately for Huckaby, Dana Friis-Hansen, who recently joined the Grand Rapids Art Museum as its director, took at least one group to see the work.
