Public Art Pap vs. Underdog Anger Next Weekend in El Paso

by Bill Davenport October 9, 2011

David Lynch's Cow was rejected.

Chalk the Block, the family-friendy art event that attracted 25,000 to downtown El Paso last year is on a collision course with Occupy El Paso, one of many loosely organized protests against corporate greed sweeping US cities. “If the people at Chalk the Block are truly artists; they will not have a problem with us being here,” shouted one man in the crowd. The faceoff between syndicated art-pap boosterism and grassroots anger happens next weekend, Oct 14-16! Maybe a cow parade smash up is next!

Seems like your the angry one. Lol. Anyway, we are a progressive and highly organized movement with one goal: to end the corporate stranglehold over government and legislation.

With that said, our organization has opted to not interfere with chalk the block out of respect for the artists. We will occupy the civic center until Monday instead. Then we move to san jacinto Monday.

So no need to be angry, not going to accomplish much….
