Día de los Muertos is the real, personal, Catholic-but-Mesoamerican thing here. This altar one was outside a retirement home on the largely-Latino West Side. Note completely non-ironic, non-skatepunk/piratical use of skull motif. It's a beautiful time to be in San Antonio, especially if the tradition resonates with you. You can bring a photo of a loved one and place it on the public altar in Main Plaza or elsewhere, too.
