Philpsz’s Sunset Song

The Linda Pace Foundation has acquired, Sunset song, a 2003 sound piece by Scottish artist Susan Philpsz, and they’re going to play it outdoors, over a horn-shaped loudspeaker from noon until sunset, daily from May 8-June 26 at the foundation’s CHRISpark, 111 Camp Street, in San Antonio. There’s a reception an opening listen on May 6 from 7-9pm. It’s a homecoming of sorts: the piece was originally created at Philpsz’s 2003 residency at Artpace. Philpsz went on to win the first Turner Prize given to a piece of sound art last year.
