The so-called “Rock House Fire” that began on April 9 and burned over 180,000 acres of West Texas including Fort Davis, is now 70% contained. The Chinati Foundation has sent out an email of support for their stricken neighbors (Marfa itself was missed by the conflagration). Though 40 homes have been destroyed as the fire raced through historically dry brush, no human lives have been lost.
