Better Block Houston, a nonprofit org that aims to fix urban blight with temporary events is holding “the first of many” all-day events to improve the corner of Holman St. and LaBranch St. in Midtown on Saturday April 9 from 10am-10pm. Better Block projects are temporary installations of pedestrian-friendly streets that demonstrate how easy it is to increase safety, walkability and economic activity. The Better Block idea began in Dallas’ Oak Cliff neighborhood, and has tentacles in Chicago, Dallas, Fort Worth, Portland, and Memphis.
