Butler-Borden split

by Bill Davenport March 11, 2011

Houston gallerists Devin Borden and Hiram Butler are parting ways, after a 20 year partnership. A brief statement about the split accomanied their announcement of the last joint opening, Shane Tolbert: Paintings: “We have decided to divide our activities.  The existing gallery will operate as Hiram Butler Gallery and continue to concentrate on the artists it has long represented, prints, and site specific commissions.  The other important aspect of our current gallery, exhibiting works by younger artists, will now occur in an independent space TBA — Devin Borden Gallery. The current mailing list will be shared by both. . .we have worked together for twenty-plus years and deciding to operate separately was not easy.”
