People’s Gallery of Austin

The City of Austin opened the latest installment of the annual People’s Gallery Exhibition at City Hall on February 18. A crowd of over 1000 publics heard a proclamation from Mayor Leffingwell in support of the work of local artists.  A multimedia program premiered in the nearby City Council Chambers, the Djembabes played, and Whole Foods Market donated refreshments. Visitors to the show can drop a ballot for the hotly contested People’s Choice award, which went, in 2009, to James Tisdale’s disgruntled ceramic squirrel . . .
