The Idea Fund has announced a new list of out-there projects it’s funding next year: ArtScouts Houston (Elaine Bradford, Emily Link, Dennis Nance, and C.H.JoAnn Park) fir Nohegan East: An art-making weekend; Boozefox (Drew Liverman, Jules Buck Jones, Michael Phalan, Scott Eastwood) for Battleship Earth: A large sculpture/watercraft resembling an iceberg; Nathaniel Donnett for What’s The New News?: that will juxtapose news and rap poetry; David Feil and Amye McCarther to archive of a collection of audio reels from Andrus Studios; Christine Foerster’s Fish.taco.ponic: an aquaponic greenhouse; GENDER book creators (Boston Bostian, Mel Reiff Hill and Jay Mays) for the GENDER book(let), a starter manual on the beautiful diversity of gender; Leila Grothe and Cynthia Mulcahy for Square Dance, an outdoor seasonal community dance in Dallas; Buster Graybill’s The Progeny of Tush Hog, a study of the ecology of deer feeders; Mattie Matthaei’s The River is the Road Festival, a street festival and video installation in the historic Sacred Heart Chapel in Marfa; Andy Rihn’s Texas’ Longest Hammer Choir, a film of 500 people hitting hammers together across abandoned railroad tracks, filmed from a custom-made railroad cart.
