by Bill Davenport February 19, 2010

K Space in Corpus Christi Contemporary kicks off it’s paradoxical anti-graffiti graffiti program, G.A.P. 2010 with its first workshop GRAFFITI 101.  The class will be held February 20, 10am to 12 noon at K Space Contemporary, 415D Starr Street in downtown Corpus Christi. Designed to curb illegal graffiti with (presumably) legal alternatives, Graffiti 101 covers the history of graffiti and its influence in contemporary art, laws about illegal graffiti, and working safely with hazardous materials. Speakers include: Justice of the Peace Amanda Torres on the court system, graffiti laws and sentences, Lisa Harrison Ramirez, lead G.A.P. instructor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and Kenny Harrison, Lead G.A.P. instructor. G.A.P. also includes an exhibition of street-inspired paintings and a Hip Hop Block Party.  Anyone age 10 years and up may participate. Free.
