The Art League Houston has chosen Joe Havel as their 2010 Texas Artist of the Year and Leslie and Brad Bucher as Texas Patrons of the Year. Havel joins twenty-seven other eminent Texas artists over the age of 45, including Keith Carter, Melissa Miller, The Art Guys, Luis Jimenez, Lucas Johnson, Karin Broker, Bert L. Long, Jr. , Jesús Moroles, John Biggers, and Dorothy Hood. In 1989 Art League Houston expanded the award to include patrons and have honored Karol Kreymer and Robert Card, M.D., Anne and James Harithas, Gus Kopriva, Clint Willour, and Sue Rowan Pittman and others.
