Spanish Renaissance Revived

by Bill Davenport August 22, 2009

Houston Public Library’s landmark 1926 Julia Ideson Building is expanding. A new archival wing that will include a public reading room and exhibit spaces, and garden is under construction and slated to open in the Spring of 2010.  The library is in the process of digitizing the millions of photos and documents in the collections of the Houston Metropolitan Research Center, housed there, but they’ll never match the old building’s outrageusly lush interior details.
