How many arts administrators does it take to change a lightbulb?

During a recent visit to Houston, Claes Oldenburg gave his thumbs-up for the placement of his Geometric Mouse, Scale X, the "much loved" (and much scuffed) red steel contraption in front of the downtown central library.  According to Iggy Pop, a VIP must have an entourage: the modern master was accompanied to the the mouse's current site by the Menil's Collection Chief Curator, Bernice Rose and its Deputy Director, Emily Todd, where he met  Houston Arts Alliance Director of Civic Art + Design Helen Lessick and HAA Collections Manager Jimmy Castillo; Minnette Boesel, the Mayor's Assistant for Cultural Affairs; Jason Stephens with Houston Public Library; and Margaret Lawler of Julia Ideson Library Preservation Partners. Oldenburg, who was in town for an exhibition his drawings, was said to be "very supportive" of the proposed new site. Crisis averted!
