Shepard Fairey is now suing the AP over his appropriation of one of their photographs for his famous Obama Hope poster. Manny Garcia, the photographer who originally took the image claims the copyright is his, but he doesn’t seem too upset about it. Fairey used the photo. Fairey made a lot of money. Isn’t there some fair way to apportion credit and dollars without a series of expensive court cases EVERY TIME something like this comes up?
